Description:
AMP Cache is an extension for WordPress that adds a cache system for AMP pages. It requires the AMPforWP plugin. The vendor reports it makes AMP pages load up to 50 percent faster and gives visitors an instant preview. It works on any server.
The extension reduces the load on the server through its caching method, letting the server run faster. It includes built-in optimizations for the best PageSpeed score in AMP, which the vendor lists as 91 on mobile and 97 on desktop. It also supports a service worker, which makes a site available for offline browsing, and it works together with the PWA for AMP extension.
The vendor ran tests on a Cloudways server with browser cache disabled. Without the extension, the average first render took 1.2 seconds and the total load time was 1.56 seconds. With the extension installed, the average first render dropped to 426 ms and the total time to 989 ms. Checks from several locations measured a load time of 494 ms with browser cache enabled. A further test of cached pages, with data served from the server to the desktop, averaged 242 ms for first render and 296 ms in total. It is aimed at WordPress site owners who run AMP pages and want faster page loads.
The vendor’s own page for AMP Cache has the full details.
