CMB2 is a developer's toolkit for building metaboxes, custom fields, and forms for WordPress. It is a complete rewrite of Custom Metaboxes and Fields for WordPress. The library manages meta for posts, terms, users, and comments, and it can also create custom option pages.

Developers can create metaboxes for post edit screens, forms for options pages, forms that handle user meta and display on user profile add and edit pages, and forms that handle term meta and display wherever taxonomies are used. A flexible API allows CMB forms to be used almost anywhere, including the front-end. Several field types are included, and a custom API hook makes it possible to create new field types. Repeatable fields are supported for most field types, as well as repeatable field groups. Numerous hooks and filters allow many aspects of the library to be modified without editing it directly.

CMB2 is safe to bundle with any project and will only load the newest version in the system. Documentation is available on the CMB2 wiki on GitHub, and the functions and methods are fully inline-documented. An example-functions.php file is included to help with getting started. Language translation files can be provided through WordPress Plugin Translations. Development takes place on GitHub, and contributions are welcome.
