CMB2 Field Type: Ajax Search is a WordPress plugin that extends CMB2 with custom fields for attaching posts, users or terms to each other. Once activated, it adds three new field types named post_ajax_search, user_ajax_search and term_ajax_search. The plugin is an update of CMB2 Field Type: Post Search Ajax by Magina, extended with support for attaching posts, users and terms.

The fields come with several options. A multiple option can turn a field into a multiple attached objects field, and a limit option controls how many posts can be selected, with a value of -1 meaning unlimited selection in the single selection default. A sortable option allows selected items to be sorted, and it only works when multiple is set to true. Each field type also accepts a query_args array of query arguments passed on each request. For post_ajax_search these arguments accept the same parameters as WP_Query, for user_ajax_search the same parameters as WP_User_Query, and for term_ajax_search the same parameters as WP_Term_Query.

The plugin installs like any WordPress plugin. You download it, place the plugin folder in your wp-content/plugins directory and activate it in the Plugin dashboard. It is aimed at developers working with CMB2 who need to attach posts, users or terms through an ajax search field.
