Description:
LIKE Terms is an extension for SearchWP, the advanced WordPress search plugin. It allows partial matching of search terms without performing any spell checking. Unlike the Fuzzy Matches extension, LIKE Terms does not perform primitive spell checking at all. This keeps close spelling variants out of the search results, which is useful because those variants can cause performance issues in the wrong circumstances.
This extension is for SearchWP users who want partial term matches without exposing close spelling variants. A typical use is SKU searching. If you want to incorporate SKU searching and allow partial term matches, you should use LIKE Terms instead of Fuzzy Matches, because Fuzzy Matches would include thousands of similarly spelled SKUs in the results.
Behavior is controlled through a set of filters. searchwp_like_min_length sets the minimum length of a word for LIKE matching to be applied, with a default of 4. searchwp_like_stem controls whether SearchWP applies LIKE matching to the keyword stem regardless of the engine setting, and defaults to false. searchwp_like_wildcard_before and searchwp_like_wildcard_after toggle a LIKE wildcard before or after search terms, and both default to true. Note that this extension is deprecated as of SearchWP version 3.0 and will be removed.
The vendor’s own page for SearchWP LIKE Terms has the full details.
