The Movie Database add-on turns WordPress Download Manager into a movie and TV show gallery through the TMDB API. Site owners can search for movies, TV shows, and people from the WordPress admin and import any result as a WPDM package with one click. Imports bring posters, backdrops, ratings, genres, runtime, tagline, overview, release date, YouTube trailers, and cast and crew details. TV shows add seasons, episodes, and networks, and people entries include a photo, biography, and filmography.
A showcase page template presents a cinematic hero section, cast grid, season accordion, trailer embed, and a sidebar with a download call to action. Template tags like [tmdb_rating], [tmdb_trailer], and [tmdb_seasons] place TMDB data inside any WPDM page template, while shortcodes display trending titles, top rated titles, genre browsing, and an auto-scrolling poster carousel. Already-imported items are flagged for re-sync, and scheduled syncing runs hourly, twice daily, daily, or weekly to refresh ratings, trailers, new seasons, and other metadata. Each imported package shows an admin panel with the TMDB ID, type, poster, rating, year, and trailer key. A settings tab covers the API key, language, sync interval, image quality, and default access roles. It requires WordPress 5.6 or higher, WordPress Download Manager 7.0 or higher, PHP 7.4 or higher, and a free TMDB API key.
