Description:
The myCred SMS Payments add-on lets users of a myCred points website check their current point balance and make point transfers through SMS messages. It works like the Transfer add-on, which handles transfers through a shortcode on the website, but uses specially constructed SMS messages instead. A Twilio account with a verified phone number that supports messaging is required.
Users can transfer points, check their balance, receive transfer confirmation messages, and cancel transfers when the site owner allows it. The add-on can also enforce the transfer limit set in the Transfer add-on. After installing the sms-transfers folder in wp-content/plugins and enabling the plugin, the site owner enters a Twilio Account ID and the Twilio phone number users send their messages to. Settings also cover where user phone numbers are stored, either a WordPress meta key or a BuddyPress extra profile field, and whether recipients are identified by ID, login, or email.
Phone numbers must be stored with a plus character, the country code, and the full number without dashes or spaces. The add-on only manages the SMS transfers, so the site owner must provide instructions on using the service. Twilio charges for SMS replies, each limited to 160 characters, so sites expecting a large volume should contact Twilio Sales about the right plan.
The vendor’s own page for myCred SMS Payments has the full details.
