Description:

Salient Home Slider 1.4.1 is the original featured-content slider plugin for the Salient WordPress theme. Its settings sit in the Home Slider panel of the theme's Theme Options, covering caption animations, autoplay, advance and animation speed, height, and background color.

The option list includes toggles for caption transition animations, for automatic image resizing that fits slide images to the user's screen size using the background-size cover CSS property, and for autoplay, which advances slides until the user begins interacting. Text fields set the advance speed, meaning how long it takes before switching to the next slide, the animation speed between slides, and the slider height. The safe minimum height is 400 and the theme demo uses 650. A background color option appears only when slides are not wide enough to accommodate large resolutions.

The plugin is no longer the recommended way to build a new slider. For new work, the documentation points to the Carousel element set to Simple Slider, where each slide is an ordinary page builder column and content, alignment, and sizing are handled with the tools already available in the editor. The Home Slider plugin is still supported and existing sliders keep working, so nothing needs to change. It remains relevant for Salient users whose sites already use the Home Slider.
