It enables transport by rail, which can extend delivery time by up to one day but can save over 30 percent of emissions compared to road transport, and it includes additional reduction measures in the logistics network such as biofuels.

The plugin also supports shipping to Packstations. DHL operates more than 9,300 Packstations, the densest parcel locker network in Germany, and shipping to a Packstation saves around 30 percent CO2 on the last mile compared to conventional shipping. To enable this, the shop activates Packstation shipping in the DHL settings under locations and can optionally give customers a map based selection in the checkout. When a customer chooses DHL shipping, they can activate delivery to a Packstation in the alternative shipping address field.
