Germanized for WooCommerce Pro is a plugin for WooCommerce shops that brings shipping services from DHL and Deutsche Post into the shop administration. Shop operators can create shipping labels for DHL and Deutsche Post directly from their WooCommerce dashboard without leaving the shop backend. To use the DHL features, the shop connects its DHL business account in the settings under WooCommerce, then Germanized, then shipping providers, then DHL. After that, labels for shipments can be generated from within the shop.
One focus of the plugin is climate friendly shipping. The DHL GoGreen service, which has existed since 2007, lets merchants offset the emissions produced during shipping through certified climate protection projects. In Germanized, GoGreen can be preselected as a default service in the settings under shipping providers, then DHL, then labels, or it can be chosen afterwards when a label for a shipment is created. The newer GoGreen Plus offering for business customers is currently in pilot operation and is planned to be available to all business customers from 2023. It enables transport by rail, which can extend delivery time by up to one day but can save over 30 percent of emissions compared to road transport, and it includes additional reduction measures in the logistics network such as biofuels.
The plugin also supports shipping to Packstations. DHL operates more than 9,300 Packstations, the densest parcel locker network in Germany, and shipping to a Packstation saves around 30 percent CO2 on the last mile compared to conventional shipping. To enable this, the shop activates Packstation shipping in the DHL settings under locations and can optionally give customers a map based selection in the checkout. When a customer chooses DHL shipping, they can activate delivery to a Packstation in the alternative shipping address field.
