Description:

Alaska Core includes CMB2, a developer toolkit for building metaboxes, custom fields, and forms for WordPress. It is a complete rewrite of Custom Metaboxes and Fields for WordPress. Developers can use it to create metaboxes for post edit screens, forms for options pages, and forms that handle user meta and display on the user profile add and edit pages.

Several field types are included, and a custom API hook lets you create your own field types. The flexible API allows the forms to be used almost anywhere, even on the front end. Numerous hooks and filters make it possible to modify many aspects of the library without editing it directly. Repeatable fields are supported for most field types, along with repeatable field groups. CMB2 is safe to bundle with any project because it only loads the newest version in the system.

Documentation is available on the CMB2 wiki on GitHub, and the functions and methods are fully inline documented. Thanks to the CMB2 community and wp-translations.org, there is a good start on several translations. Third party field types include an attached posts field, post search and user search fields, an RGBa color picker, a Google Maps field that stores latitude and longitude values, Select2 based select and multiselect fields with typeahead search, and a slider field.
