Description:
CMB2 is a developer's toolkit for building metaboxes, custom fields, and forms for WordPress. It is a complete rewrite of Custom Metaboxes and Fields for WordPress. With it you can manage meta for posts, terms, users, and comments, or create custom option pages. The library is aimed at developers who want to build metaboxes for post edit screens, forms for options pages, forms for user meta shown on user profile add and edit pages, and forms for term meta displayed wherever their taxonomies are used.
Several field types are included, and a custom API hook lets you create your own field types. Repeatable fields are supported for most field types, along with repeatable field groups. Numerous hooks and filters allow you to modify many aspects of the library without editing it directly. The flexible API allows CMB forms to be used almost anywhere, even on the front-end. CMB2 is safe to bundle with any project because it will only load the newest version in the system.
Documentation is available on the CMB2 wiki on GitHub, and the functions and methods are fully inline-documented. Examples are included in the example-functions.php file, and a list of available field types can be found on the wiki. Development takes place on GitHub, where all contributions are welcome. Translations are handled through WordPress Plugin Translations, and a range of third party custom field types extends the library further.
