MainWP Regression Testing Extension is an add-on for the MainWP Dashboard that helps agencies and developers monitor child sites for unexpected changes after updates. Instead of relying on pixel comparisons like visual regression tools, it analyzes the complete rendered HTML output of each site. This lets it detect real changes such as missing meta tags, altered JavaScript, content shifts, and modifications to HTML structure or inline styles that visual tools can miss.
The extension includes a side-by-side diff view that shows what changed between two versions of a site, with additions highlighted in green and deletions in red. Tests can run automatically after plugin, theme, or core updates, be scheduled at regular intervals to catch gradual changes, or be triggered manually at any time from the MainWP Dashboard.
Scans run from the MainWP Dashboard rather than on individual client sites, so the extension has minimal performance impact on the monitored sites. There is no limit to the number of sites that can be monitored, and the extension works across an entire network without per-site fees. It is available as a Pro extension from the developer MainWP.
