Multiple Memberships per User, also referred to as MMPU, is an add on for Paid Memberships Pro that lets a user hold more than one membership level at the same time. It is intended for sites running Paid Memberships Pro where members need to belong to several levels at once. Most PMPro add ons are built around the assumption that a user holds only one membership level at a time.

The plugin is considered to be in beta status and should be used at your own risk. While it is active, almost all other PMPro add ons that adjust the checkout process, membership pricing, or user subscriptions, or that perform actions when users change membership levels, will not currently work as you might expect.

The reason is that those add ons do not know what to do when a user has multiple levels or cancels multiple levels at once. The developers will update their add ons over time so that they support Multiple Memberships per User, and they will add notices in the plugin documentation and on their website when they do.
