Description:
PDF for GravityView is an add-on for Gravity PDF that generates PDF documents based on a View instead of a standard Gravity Forms entry. At its heart, the product creates PDFs that automatically reflect the Single Entry View layout you build with the GravityView Drag and Drop View Builder. This means the PDF output follows the same structure you have designed for your View, without requiring you to rebuild that layout separately for document generation.
The add-on supports all GravityView layouts, including List, Table, Datatable, Map, and DIY. You can add a PDF view or download link to your View, and users can email the PDF to friends, family, colleagues, or themselves. The PDF can also be styled and customized to suit your needs. The product came about after a customer using GravityView to create complex personalized reports asked for exactly this functionality, so they would not have to reproduce their report logic for the PDFs. A working prototype was built quickly, but turning it into a finished product took three months, 99 individual updates, 10 internal releases, and a lot of user testing before its release in April 2023.
A notable feature is the visibility settings, which came from feedback during community testing. These settings allow you to add fields specifically for the View and use a completely different set of fields for the PDF. In other words, you can exclude specific fields from the PDF or only include a field in the PDF. Combined with advanced conditional logic, GravityMath, GravityCharts, and the Multiple Forms add-on, this turns GravityView into a quasi-PDF builder tool with a wide range of possibilities.
The scope at launch is focused on PDFs of the Single Entry View Layout. Support for Multiple Entries Layouts, Google Maps, and other Gravity PDF extensions such as Watermark or Enhanced Download is not included at launch. The product is aimed at GravityView users who want to generate PDF documents from their Views, and it is useful to them right now. A 30-minute product walkthrough by Gravity PDF founder Jake Jackson is available for anyone who wants a deeper look at how it works.
