Description:

This plugin provides demo import for WordPress themes. Theme authors can define import files in their themes, so users only have to click the Import Demo Data button. It creates a submenu page under Appearance titled Import demo data. It is written for theme authors, who can make a theme compatible in 15 minutes, and for theme users.

If your theme has no predefined import files, upload inputs are shown instead. The first input is required and takes a demo content XML file. The second is optional and takes a WIE or JSON file for widgets, created with the Widget Importer and Exporter plugin. The third optional input takes a DAT file with customizer settings from the Customizer Export and Import plugin, and those settings import only when the export file was made from the same theme. The last optional input imports Redux framework settings, using a JSON export made with the Redux framework plugin.

The plugin uses the improved WP import 2.0, which is still in development. All progress is logged in a log file in the default WP upload directory, together with the demo import files used. There is no setting to connect authors from the demo import file to existing users, so all demo content is imported under the current user.
