Email Notifications is an extension for UpStream, the project management plugin for WordPress. It sends email updates and reminders to people working on your projects. Users receive a notification whenever a Milestone, Task or Bug is assigned to them, and they can also get reminders when a due date approaches. Assigning a Milestone sends the user an email about it, and assigning a Bug linked to a Milestone produces a message covering both.

The extension includes reminder settings for Projects, Tasks and Milestones. You can set reminders to go out a day before, two days before, three days before, a week before or two weeks before a due date. Once chosen, these settings apply automatically to all new Milestones, Tasks and Bugs, and reminders go to any users assigned to those items. Reminders for individual items can be customized too: a Reminders section appears on a single task's editing screen, where you can add custom notifications for that task alone.

For sending, you can use either the native WordPress wp_mail() function or the PHPMailer library with your own SMTP options.
