Description:

wpForo Groups Plugin Integration is an addon for the wpForo forum plugin. It connects the Groups plugin with wpForo so that content restriction rules from Groups can be applied to forum content. Site owners can grant different types of access to different forums based on users' Groups, which makes it possible to build a members-only forum and offer discussion threads of a certain forum exclusively to group members. The addon requires the Groups plugin to be installed first, and it needs at least wpForo version 2.2.2, so it should not be installed on lower wpForo versions.

The integration provides access control for wpForo categories, forums and sub-forums. Restricting a forum prevents non-members from seeing any of that forum's topics. Each forum that should be hidden must be restricted individually, because restrictions are not inherited from a parent category, though a restriction affects all topics of the forum. Access is set by editing forums in the wpForo Forums admin page and assigning a forum access to each Group. For example, a Student group can be given read only access while a Teacher group receives standard access to read topics, create new topics and reply. Custom forum accesses with any set of permissions can be created in the Forum Accesses admin page.

Groups takes precedence over wpForo Usergroup restrictions. Users with access to a forum through a Group can reach that forum and its topics even if their Usergroup has no access set for it, so the addon recommends setting no access for all Usergroups except Admins and Moderators when managing forum access by Groups.
