A file tree browser with a smart context menu and a customizable root path handles navigation. You can create new files and directories, download, upload, zip and unzip in batches, add files by drag and drop, search by keyword and calculate folder size. An image gallery and a video and audio media player are included.
The code editor opens any file within the wp-content folder, not just plugins and themes, with multiple files in a tabbed interface. It offers line numbers, find and replace, syntax highlighting, automatic indentation, code folding and keyboard shortcuts. WordPress and PHP code auto-completion provides a function reference, PHP code is parsed and validated, PHP files are backed up before saving, and a File Recovery Wizard is included. WPIDE is built with security in mind and comes with the file manager vulnerability fixed, the weakness malicious bots targeted when more than 700,000 WordPress websites were attacked during September 2020. The interface is modern, clean and easy to use, with six themes and a dark mode to reduce blue light exposure.
