GeoDirectory Save Search Notifications, version 2.1.1, is an add-on for GeoDirectory that allows visitors to save the searches they run on a directory site. Once a search has been saved, the visitor will receive an email notification whenever new listings are published that match the saved search. The purpose of the add-on is to connect new listing activity on the site with users who have already expressed interest in that kind of listing through their searches.

How it works follows two steps. First, a user performs a search on the site and saves that search. From that point on, the saved search acts as a standing record of what the user is looking for. Second, whenever a new listing is published on the site, it is checked against the saved searches, and if it matches one of them, the user who saved that search receives an email notification about the new listing.

The add-on is aimed at people who run directory sites built with GeoDirectory and at the visitors who use those sites. For visitors, it removes the need to return to the site and repeat the same search over and over to see whether anything new has appeared.
