Description:
Nav Menu Roles is a WordPress plugin for anyone who needs to control which visitors can see individual menu items. It grew out of client work where certain menu links had to be hidden from non-logged-in users, a need the author had previously met by maintaining two separate menus, one for logged-in users and one for logged-out users. The plugin brings that control into the normal menu editing screen.
After installing and activating the plugin, you create a custom menu and add items as usual. Extra fields then appear in the menu item settings, where you choose to show an item to all logged-in users, to all logged-out users, or to customize by role. When customizing by role, checkboxes decide which roles may see that item. If no roles are checked, the item displays to everyone as it normally would.
The plugin is available in the WordPress repository and on the developer's Github repository. Because WordPress lacks the required hooks for these fields, it uses a custom walker and is not compatible with other plugins that override the same walker. Support covers bug fixing and basic implementation only, not customization. Bugs can be reported at the Github issue tracker, and support requests are best handled in the support forums.
The vendor’s own page for Nav Menu Roles has the full details.
