Description:
wpDiscuz Emoticons is an add-on for wpDiscuz, a free, AJAX controlled, real time, flexible and responsive commenting plugin. It requires at least wpDiscuz 7.0.0 and should not be installed on lower versions. The add-on is for site owners who want to display emotion in comments, since smiles and emoticons are among the most used features in communities, chats, forums and blogs.
The add-on comes with a unique smiles package and converts smile codes into the matching smile image in comment content. A smile icon button in the comment textarea toolbar opens a smile chooser and inserts the code into the comment text. Each emoticon can be enabled or disabled separately, custom emoticons with custom code and image can be added, and custom packages can be created and switched between. An option enables the smile converter for post content. It also supports bbPress, replacing bbPress post emoticons automatically, and adds an emoticon selector in the topic and post editor with options for background and border colors.
Installation works like any other WordPress plugin. Upload the folder to the plugins directory, activate it, then configure it under Comments, wpDiscuz Settings, the Addons tab and the Emoticons sub tab. Version 7.1.4 fixes an issue where stickers were not available while editing a comment, and more packages are planned for future releases.
The vendor’s own page for wpDiscuz – Emoticons has the full details.
