Description:
wpDiscuz Syntax Highlighter is an official add-on for the wpDiscuz commenting plugin, and it requires wpDiscuz 7.0.0 or higher. It displays formatted source code in comment content using the highlight.js JavaScript library. The add-on supports almost all programming languages, including Apache, Bash, C#, C++, CSS, HTML, XML, JSON, Java, JavaScript, Objective-C, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, SQL, Basic, Delphi, Erlang, Matlab, Prolog, ScalaScheme, Swift, TypeScript, VB.NET and Shell, with dozens of different syntax highlighting styles.
The add-on is aimed at site owners who run wpDiscuz and want commenters to be able to post code. Commenters insert scripts and code with the code toolbar button in the comment editor, and the code is then displayed with formatting and highlighting. In the dashboard settings, administrators can enable or disable specific programming languages and change the highlighting style.
Installation works like any other WordPress plugin: upload the add-on ZIP file, activate it, and configure it in the Syntax Highlighter section of the wpDiscuz settings. A copy button for code was added in version 1.0.4. The current release is version 1.0.8, and the changelog lists WordPress 5.7 compatibility for version 1.0.3.
