The Charitable GoCardless addon connects your donation forms to GoCardless so donors can give straight from their bank account through Direct Debit, with no credit or debit card needed. Bank payments usually cost around 1% per donation instead of the 2.5% to 3% most card gateways charge, which leaves more money for your cause. After completing the donation form, donors are redirected to a payment page hosted by GoCardless, keeping sensitive data handled by GoCardless.

It suits Charitable users raising funds for nonprofits, churches, schools, sports, and other causes who want to accept bank payments. GoCardless works with Direct Debit schemes in more than 30 countries, including Bacs, SEPA Core, ACH, PAD, BECS, Autogiro, and Betalingsservice. Setup covers installing the addon, enabling the gateway in Charitable settings, creating an access token in your GoCardless dashboard, and adding a webhook. It requires PHP 7.2 or higher and Charitable 1.6.55 or higher. Bank payments are not instant, so a donation sits as Pending for a few days before the webhook marks it as Paid.
